VirtualBoy

VirtualBoy
Only ever released in the US and Japan the VirtualBoy (aka VR32) was Nintendo's failed attempt at a 3D console. It is shaped like a large pair of futuristic binoculars resting on a tripod. Plays games in a red screen 3D effect by projecting two separate images (one black, one red) on to 2 mirrored high-resolution LED screens. When the separate screens are viewed with both eyes, a stereoscopic effect is produced and images appear to jump towards the viewer.
