Turok Evolution is an all-action first-person shooter, which casts you in the moccasins of old 'Dances With Dinosaurs' - a sort of Jurassic park warden - in a T-Rex sized slice of dinosaur blasting action, as Turok Evolution returns to its comic book roots.

Turok Evolution presents us with Tal'Set, a 19th century warrior-brave of the Saquin native Americans, involved in a struggle with the white, or more specifically, the evil Captain Bruckner. It's during a bought of fisticuffs between these two that a portal opens and sucks them both through into the Lost Land a world of magic, technology and most importantly dinosaurs - lots of dinosaurs. It's up to Tal'Set, now known as Turok, to rescue the Lost Land from the evil reptilian overlord Tyrannus and his newest general, Bruckner.

Starting with your trusty war club and bow you soon progress on to more devastating items such as swarm bores, sniper pistol and the not-so-stealthy variable payload Cruise missiles. With 30 death-dealing gadgets on offer, let's hope you're hunting more than just Velociraptors. Which of course you are.

Across the Lost Land you'll be encountering over 30 different types of prehistoric, insect, mammal and oceanic creatures, most of which will try to add you to their menu, although the more evolved specimens may just try and blast you with the biggest gun they can lay claws on. Regardless, they'll all react to you intelligently thanks to an advanced AI system. Dumb dinos will react to noise and changes in environment as you would expect from something with a brain the size of a walnut, whereas your humanoid opponents will take cover, attack using squad tactics and flee if outnumbered or outgunned.

In addition to the stand-up fights, you can climb aboard your very own heavily armed Pteradon in a series of aerial combat missions. Soaring over the jungles you'll be using your wing-mounted cannons on other flapping foes as well as taking out targets on the ground. Just don't crash into anything, these winged reptiles aren't known for their durability and ejector seats are not fitted as standard.

Turok Evolution is a tried and tested FPS license brought bang up to date on next gen hardware with the added thrill of taking to the skies in the flying missions. Mix in the return of the classic Tal'Set from the early 90s comics and a beautiful new game engine and Turok Evolution is looking as tasty as a giant rack of ribs from The Flintstones.
